The effect in this fish image is inspired by craft scissors: the special ones that cut a wavy line. It turns out that by using the sin function, I can introduce just this sort of a wobble into my source footage. The result is an image that has a greater overall sense of pattern and coherence than one with handheld wobble alone. Another side effect, in this case, is the appearance, of apparently two-headed (or two-tailed) fish.
